Courtney Pernell
As a potter and artist in Raleigh for more than 20 years, Courtney Pernell has created a space where local makers are supported, and the community is engaged and connected. Bayleaf Market is the culmination of a lifelong belief that we need a place to gather and feel known, and we need to feel part of our local community. Despite facing many difficulties, Courtney still believes the world has magic and goodness, and she wants you to feel that peace when you visit the market. She loves getting to know her makers and customers, and most enjoys the conversations she gets to have with them!

Vanessa Carter
With a background in customer service and a love of beautiful things, Vanessa is responsible for several behind the scenes operations for the Market. After ten years as a stay-at-home parent, Bayleaf was the perfect oppportunity for her to return to the “working world” in a fun and creative environment. You can find Vanessa at the front desk chatting up customers and nerding out on the shop’s ever growing vinyl collection. She truly enjoys listening to people’s stories and believes stronly in the community building mission of Bayleaf Market.

Erica Pigage
Erica is a southern NJ native who relocated to Raleigh in 2002. In 2021 she left her job of 19 years in early childhood education to pursue her dream of running her business, Port and Starbird, full time. Shortly after, she began working at Bayleaf Market. She loves meeting other makers and artists, working with her dear friend Courtney and sharing her products in the shop. When she’s not sewing and creating, Erica spends time with family; her amazing husband Dan, and their dogs.They enjoy running, visiting breweries, and catching up on Bravo shows.
